If you have not yet joined us in Coffee and Conversation, please do. It is a delight to experience deep connections and wisdom among a wide array of people who come together in community.

The topic for tomorrow, March 7th, is the importance of social networks and what inhibits it, resulting in isolation and loneliness. Humans thrive with each other.
🍵
The epidemic of loneliness on a global scale is beyond concerning. It affects physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of who we are. The risks of heart disease, stroke, and dementia increase exponentially with chronic loneliness.

This week, we will discuss the difference between isolation (objective) and loneliness (experience) and look at causes, like, technology, habits during COVID, rugged individualism, less family and 3rd places. What is important, is to focus on how to enhance soulful connections so that we impact our overall well-being.

This offering is a group discussion format around the topics of meaning and life. It is donation-based, so when you register, you will be given an option to donate. We meet in the cozy back area with a couch, comfy chairs, and floor space. Some people take a class before or after the group.

The topic for tomorrow, February 28th, Coffee and Conversation, is... What is wisdom?

It is quite connected to our discussion last week on love, which is rooted in the heart. We talked about the brahma vihārā, known as the divine abodes. They are the four ways the heart experiences the world. The only ways the heart sees. Akin to the four directions of a compass, the heart can guide us.

A starting point might be looking at what we mean by prajñā (wisdom, discernment, highest knowledge). Literally, forward knowing. It is understood to go beyond vidyā (knowledge). A way to see it is when the heart and mind are on the same page, there is coherence, which generally happens within the quiet stillness of silence rather than more information.

Our upcoming (like tomorrow, February 21st), Coffee and Conversation, topic is... Love. Not sure what happened there choosing it on Valentine's Day last week, but here we are.

We will open the discussion with what is love, or what is loving. As we move through our daily lives, there are countless loving acts. Do we see them? Feel them? We will talk about how to practically extend and receive love.

Our newest offering, Coffee and Conversation, Saturdays at 11 am, has taken off quickly. A group discussion format around the topics of meaning and life. What a joy to see people connect about important and hard things. This is how deep knowing happens. The ease with which the talks flow, with so many people, is a beauty to experience. No one is interrupted. Everyone speaks. Space is given to listen and understand. Silence is respected and honored.

Last week, we talked through what is grief and our individual experiences of it, and how it connects us to others in ways that are hard to give language. This Saturday, February 7th, we will be taking a road from grief and discuss how to manage life right now (current events and dealing with a protracted winter). While there is an inkling to narrow the focus, it seems best to leave it open for this group to include what is relevant.

As always, the hope is that our talks broaden the lens with which to view our world. We are excited to watch how this is moving along... We meet in the comfy and cozy (read warm) back area. Let us know you are coming, and we will see you there.

Hi All! Our newest offering, Coffee and Conversat

Hi All!

Our newest offering, Coffee and Conversation, Saturdays at 11 am, this week January 31st! A group discussion format around the topics of meaning and life.

Thank you to everyone who braved the cold and snow. We had a deep conversation about forgiveness, ultimately questioning whether we know what it is, or at least, people understanding it differently as individuals.

Our next Coffee and Conversation, Saturday, January 31st, will be about grief. It was a natural off-shoot from our last session. In the words of a participant, "Grief can be raw. One of the most human things all of us will experience is grief. If we can figure out how to share that, maybe it makes it easier?"

To be honest, when we were choosing topics, I think I shied away from grief because it is so hard. But this is why we meet and how we connect as humans.

As always, the hope is that our talks broaden the lens with which to view our world. We are excited to watch how this is moving along... After January, the group will be donation-based. We will offer the funds to an organization that changes monthly.

We meet in the comfy and cozy (read warm) back area. Let us know you are coming, and we will see you there.
